Watch: Punch up between coaches in US Major League Rugby game

Major League Rugby news

The incident happened during the Week 10 match between the New York Ironworkers and the Houston SabreCats this week at Mt. Vernon Field in New York.

A stoppage in play just after half-time erupted into a brawl between Houston head coach Pote Human and a member of the New York coaching staff. The exact cause of the incident has not yet been determined, but Human is seen walking on to the field angrily pointing at the New York official. The two meet and engage in a bit of push and shove before Human lashes out with a swinging hand and slaps the other man across the cheek. This drew an angry reaction, with the New York official attempting to land punches to Human’s upper body and players and staff rush in to pull the men apart.

The SabreCats eventually won the game 27-34.
