West Ham United produced a determined performance to claim their first home victory of the season, coming from behind to beat Newcastle United 3–1 at the London Stadium.
Jacob Murphy opened the scoring early for Newcastle moments after Jarrod Bowen struck the post, but Lucas Paquetá equalised with a superb long-range effort before a Sven Botman own goal put the hosts ahead just before halftime.
Tomas Souček sealed the win in stoppage time, converting after Nick Pope’s save from Bowen. Despite having a penalty overturned by VAR, West Ham’s persistence under Nuno Espírito Santo earned them a vital three points, closing the gap to safety, while Newcastle’s away drought extended to seven months.
