A Jetstar flight from Auckland to Dunedin was forced to turn back on Saturday due to heavy turbulence, marking the airline’s second incident this week.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the decision was made as a precaution.
This followed a Jetstar flight that slid off the runway at Christchurch Airport on Friday, which also resulted in no injuries but led to the airport’s temporary closure and flight cancellations.
The Transport Accident Investigation Commission (TAIC) has initiated an investigation into the Christchurch incident, citing a possible steering issue with the aircraft’s hydraulic systems. This comes on the heels of a severe turbulence incident involving a Singapore Airlines flight that injured three New Zealanders.
