Tourism NZ defends ‘Everyone Must Go’ campaign amid criticism

Everyone Must Go news

Tourism New Zealand has launched the $500,000 “Everyone Must Go” campaign targeting Australian travellers during the shoulder season, aiming to attract 5,000 additional visitors in Autumn 2025.

While some critics likened the slogan to a clearance sale, Tourism New Zealand defended the campaign as a “playful, tactical” approach blending “humour and Kiwi charm”.

Developed with TBWA Australia, the campaign includes radio, digital, and social media ads designed to convert interest into bookings.

Despite mixed public reactions, Tourism New Zealand reports strong support from the tourism and hospitality sectors.

  1. As tourist I have to say that New Zealand is the most greedy tourist trap in the world.

    Walk up Tarawera NZ$ 110
    Blackwater rafting 4hrs NZ$ 300
    Sky Tower AKL NZ$ 47
    Hobbiton NZ$ 120
A buried village (some dirt bumps) NZ$ 30
    Auckland Zoo NZ$ 35
Many attractions charge you for ‘extras’ or for photos that they take,

Check out fees for attactions in Europe:
Louvre (incl Mona Lisa) NZ$ 40
Tivoil in Denmark, entree incl. all rides NZ$ 100
    Eiffel tower NZ$ 65
    Vatican Museums & Sistine Chapel NZ$ 65
    Pinakothek Munich NZ$ 16
    Frankfurt Zoo NZ$ 22

Leaving with a feeling of being ripped off by greedy operators.
