The HMS Prince of Wales suffered a “mechanical issue,” the Royal Navy says.
Britain’s biggest ship and the second of the Royal Navy’s two aircraft carriers, HMS Prince of Wales, has broken down shortly after embarking on a cross-Atlantic aviation trial.
The carrier “remains in the South Coast Exercise Area while conducting investigations into an emerging mechanical issue,” the Royal Navy’s spokesperson said in a statement to the media on Sunday.
The incident occurred just one day after the vessel left Portsmouth for what the Royal Navy described as “a landmark mission to shape the future of stealth jet and drone operations.”
The UK Defence Journal cited a source as saying divers discovered that the ship’s propeller shaft appeared to be damaged.
According to Sky News, the Prince of Wales is now anchored southeast of the Isle of Wight in England.
The ship, which became fully operational last year, was about to visit New York, Halifax in Canada, and the Caribbean, during a three-month voyage across the Atlantic for trials involving F-35B jet fighters, according to the Royal Navy.

Once a country such as UK or US manipulates the world’s financial system using the bonds they issue, and effectively steal or import from other countries, there is no incentive to maintain a manufactiuring base. The few who benefit with this neo-colonial looting of other nations have zero national interest and rather subjugate their own citizens creating huge gaps in income and wealth. Over time, the IQ of the nation falls, become morally corrupt in many ways. The big MIC in US and otrher Western countries make huge profits and they know the money they make is noit real money. Defense items produced in the West costs 50 to 100 times more than the production cost in Russia and China. Techonological prowess means nothing when it comes to real wars. It only helps to win over small countries by killing civilians and other infra-structure.
NZ is in thge same path. We can produce little of our defense equipment. We will have to pay tems of billions even to have a minimal defense system. It is only a mnatter of time only mercenaries can be recruited for wars and those who work in the defence know thgey are serving the Globalists and wont risk. There is zero national pride other than the false pride created by media and fake leaders.
