Abortion rights in the US could become severely restricted, a leaked Supreme Court document reveals, sending shockwaves around the country.

According to a draft decision published in full by Politico on Monday evening, the highest court in the US has voted to overturn the landmark Roe v. Wade ruling on abortion.

The landmark ruling in 1973 provided women with the absolute right to abortion in the first trimester and limited rights in the second. A 1992 ruling – Planned Parenthood v. Casey – upheld the rights.

Now a majority of the Supreme Court appears to be leaning towards overturning both decisions and returning “the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives.”

“Roe was egregiously wrong from the start. Its reasoning was exceptionally weak, and the decision has had damaging consequences. And far from bringing about a national settlement of the abortion issue, Roe and Casey have enflamed debate and deepened division,” Justice Samuel Alito wrote in a draft majority opinion.

The Supreme Court set its sights on Roe v. Wade because it is related to a case the judges heard late last year. According to a Politico source “familiar with the court’s deliberations,” five Republican-appointed justices voted to overturn Roe v. Wade, and three Democratic-appointed judges are working on the dissent.

“How Chief Justice John Roberts will ultimately vote, and whether he will join an already written opinion or draft his own, is unclear,” the outlet writes.

Overturning Roe v. Wade will immediately allow 22 states where all the necessary judicial preparations have already been made, to outlaw abortion after a few weeks of pregnancy.

However, in the past, judges have often changed their votes in the process of deliberation. The court is expected to publish its final decision in late June or early July.

Despite the fact that the 98-page leaked document is only a first draft decision, the unprecedented insight into the deliberations of the judges has had a bombshell effect among both anti-abortion activists and abortion rights supporters, who took to Washington, DC within hours of publication.

“While abortion is still legal, tonight’s report makes clear that our deepest fears are coming true. We have reached a crisis moment for abortion access. We don’t have a moment to spare – we must act now,” non-profit organization Planned Parenthood tweeted.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said that if Politico’s report is accurate, “the Supreme Court is poised to inflict the greatest restriction of rights in the past fifty years – not just on women but on all Americans.”

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton blasted the supposed decision of the Supreme Court as an “utter disgrace” and “a direct assault on the dignity, rights, & lives of women, not to mention decades of settled law.”

Abortion has long been among the most divisive issues in the US. According to a 2021 Pew Research Center survey, 59% of adults believe that abortion should be legal in all or most cases, while 39% think it should be illegal in all or most cases.

  1. Democrats have heavily funded thuggary organisations claiming to provide “social justice”. They will create civil unrest resorting to violance and try to take political advantage. MSM will defend them for sure.

  2. The USA is one messed up piece of sh#t. Everything they do right now is so fu#ked up. They are a bunch of total arseh#les. They only care about themselves and themselves only. So sick of hearing about them. Sick of reacting to their f**#**g problems, they need to go and suck it up because they are a bunch of spoilt brats. If they can’t use contraception then they should suck c#**. WE DON’T CARE!

  3. My view on abortion for what it’s worth…..and yes I am a woman.

It should be available as a very last option. But only up until 12 weeks.

Firstly we need to provide good contraception advice and options for people, secondly we need to make morning after pills readily and easily available (i believe they are now) and thirdly we need to make abortions available to people so they can be carried out as early as possible- ideally between 5-10 weeks.

As I say this I also want to say that I would never want to have an abortion and that if I had to, it would be because of dire circumstances. I did support a married friend of mine who had one and wanted no more children. Furthermore she had been drinking quite a bit at the time she had become pregnant. It was NOT an easy process at all and I had to drive her out of town (her husband was looking after their other children) and she had to wait EIGHT WEEKS until she could have it, so she was 14 weeks pregnant at the time which I thought was cruel and disgusting to have to wait that long when she had known from 5 weeks pregnant that she did not want another baby. To have that baby would have caused her considerable stress and harm and there is a good chance it may have been affected by Foetal Alcohol Syndrome.

Now you can think what you want out of all of that but I stand by my friend for what she went through. What is broken is the delay it took to get the procedure done and that fact it could not be done in our city. We had to drive past protesters to get to the clinic (mostly a bunch of old men holding graphic signs). It was an awful experience.

While we are at it, it IS a woman’s body and she DOES get to decide what happens to it. Some Men need to butt out, if you want a baby, then find the right baby mama and treat her with respect. If you don’t want a baby, put on a condom. I know what I am talking about, I am a woman and I have grown 3 babies inside my body and 2 who didn’t make it. It’s a HUGE deal and a BIG sacrifice to bring a child into the world, let alone raising it, even when it is wanted. BUT whatever I think about MY body, gives me NO right to tell someone else what to do with theirs.

Just like the vaccine, it’s NONE of my business what other people do with their bodies and the consequences of their decision. Ideally there would be no unwanted pregnancies but that just isn’t feasible. I have taken 2 morning after pills in my lifetime, one when I was 18 with my first boyfriend, the other as a 39 year old married woman. The joys of being a woman. It is what it is.

    *waits to be flamed*
