Big Tel Aviv crowd boos Netanyahu (Video)

A large rally in Tel Aviv marking the anticipated release of Israeli hostages turned politically charged overnight as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s name was met with loud boos from the crowd.

U.S. envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, joined by Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, addressed tens of thousands gathered at Hostage Square, calling the moment “the most powerful sight.” But when Witkoff mentioned Netanyahu, the crowd erupted in jeers that drowned out his speech. A second mention of the Prime Minister triggered another wave of boos, prompting Witkoff to plead, “OK, let me just finish my thought.”

Witkoff went on to praise Netanyahu and Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer for their “sacrifice and dedication” to Israel’s security, describing their work as vital to the nation’s future. However, the audience’s reaction suggested widespread frustration toward the embattled leader, who faces ongoing criticism over his handling of the Gaza conflict and hostage negotiations.

In stark contrast, the crowd cheered when US President Donald Trump’s name was mentioned, chanting “Thank you, Trump!” Several attendees told ABC News that they believed the hostages’ return was made possible only through US intervention.

Footage from the event shows Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump exchanging awkward smiles as Witkoff tried to regain control of the stage, highlighting the deep political divide now evident even at moments of national relief.

  1. Oh dear, things aren’t looking to good for Benny, are they? First Hamas has put up a much tougher fight than expected and of course, Iran wasn’t the soft target it appeared to be, either. Israeli’s in body bags and bombed out cities, don’t win votes. Who would have guessed!
