Angela Bacares, the wife of British billionaire Mike Lynch, shared her harrowing experience of escaping their 184-foot superyacht before it capsized and sank during a fierce storm off the coast of Sicily.
The incident occurred early Monday morning, around 4 a.m., when a violent squall engulfed the yacht, Bayesian, amid towering waterspouts.
Bacares, 57, described being abruptly awakened by the boat sharply tilting.
Initially dismissing it as a minor issue, she quickly realised the severity of the situation when she was showered with broken glass.
Fleeing from her cabin she cut her feet on shattered glass scattered across the deck but managed to escape the vessel just minutes before it slipped beneath the waves.
Tragically, her husband, often dubbed “Britain’s Bill Gates,” and their 18-year-old daughter, Hannah, did not make it off the yacht.
Four others, including Lynch’s attorney Christopher Morvillo, his wife Neda, and Morgan Stanley chairman Jonathan Bloomer and his wife Judy, also remain missing.
The yacht now lies 160 feet underwater, with rescuers facing challenges in locating the missing, whose bodies are believed to be trapped in the submerged cabins.

Apparently these guys invented a ‘zero day’ network monitoring software that could detect a cyber attack of hacks that had never been used before in real time, which would be very useful in a cyber war between countries, whoever has a library of zero day hacks to attack an opponent and have the capability to repel their enemies zero day exploits would win.
Three men were involved in its development, 2 died on the boat, the third was run down in a hit and run days before.
