A British woman, Greta Marie Otteson, 33, and her South African fiancé, Els Arno Quinton, 36, were found dead in separate rooms of their holiday villa in Hoi An, Vietnam, on December 26.
The deaths were reported today by British state media.
Local police reported no signs of external force or burglary, though empty wine bottles were found at the scene.
The couple had been staying at the villa long-term and had recently announced their engagement. The UK Foreign Office confirmed it is supporting Otteson’s family while cooperating with local authorities as the investigation into their deaths continues.
Don’t drink alcohol in the Nam.
Don’t drink alcohol anywhere in Southeast Asia…
And-NEVER eat the ‘Exotic Dishes’ especially shellfish or anything caught in the Perfume River or the Mekong Delta!
’33’ Beer was bad enough in ’72…
Another case of bad alcohol, perhaps? Very sad as they were quite young. Agree with other posers, maybe steer clear of Viet beer?
Sorry that should have read posters……have a bad “t” key…..
Vietnam.
Because there’s nothing more romantic than polluted rivers and intestinal parasites. The methane emissions over their gigantic rubbish dumps are strikingly beautiful at sunset. Also a small chance you could catch the “found dead” that’s been going around.

Hey, what about the residual agent orange contamination…..?
