An explosion at the Accurate Energetic Systems munitions plant in rural Tennessee has left several people dead and others missing, with emergency crews initially unable to enter the site due to ongoing detonations.
The blast, which was felt miles away, destroyed at least one building at the eight-structure facility near Bucksnort, about 60 miles southwest of Nashville.
Authorities, including Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis, described the scene as devastating, with investigations into the cause expected to take days.
By Friday afternoon, the fire was under control and the risk of further explosions had passed. Residents reported homes shaking from the powerful blast, while officials called the incident a tragedy for the small community.
