At least 50 people, including 33 children, were killed when a drone strike hit a kindergarten in Kalogi, South Kordofan, amid escalating clashes between Sudan’s army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The Sudan Doctors’ Network and the military blamed the RSF, while the RSF accused the army of carrying out a separate drone attack on a market and fuel depot at the Adre crossing in Darfur, causing further civilian casualties.
The UN children’s agency condemned the Kalogi attack as a horrific violation of children’s rights.
With independent verification still lacking according to British state media, both sides continue to trade accusations as fighting intensifies across the Kordofan region, now a major frontline in Sudan’s worsening civil war.
