An 80-year-old woman was found dead on Lizard Island in the Great Barrier Reef after failing to return to the Coral Adventurer cruise ship on Saturday.
The woman was reported missing late that night, prompting a land and sea search that ended when a rescue helicopter located her body on Sunday.
Coral Expeditions confirmed the incident and said it was cooperating with Queensland Police, who are treating the death as “sudden and non-suspicious.” The death will be referred to the Coroner.
