Ex-Austrian Vice Chancellor Strache: Merkel’s Words About Goals of Minsk Agreements are Frightening

Heinz-Christian Strache news

On 7 December, former German Chancellor Angela Merkel told a German newspaper that the 2014 Minsk agreements “were an attempt to give Ukraine extra time”.

She added that she doubted whether NATO countries could have done as much then as they were doing now to help Ukraine.

Austria’s former vice-chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache said that statements made by Germany’s former chancellor Angela Merkel about the true goals of the Minsk agreements scare European politicians and undermine confidence in them.

The politician was speaking at a round-table meeting in Vienna and added that Merkel’s candor when she said that the purpose of the Minsk agreements was to give Ukraine time to prepare for a military scenario was “frightening”.

“This is how we destroy any basis for trust,” he said.

Earlier, in an interview with German media, Merkel said that the Minsk agreements gave Ukraine time for itself and to become stronger. In her opinion, all parties to the agreements understood that the conflict in Ukraine was only suspended, and the underlying problem remained unresolved.

The Minsk agreements are a package of measures to de-escalate the situation in Donbass negotiated from 2014 to 2015. The second package of these agreements was signed within the so-called Normandy format, involving France, Germany, Russia, and Ukraine. Moscow has repeatedly accused Kiev of violating the deal.

  1. Yes, this certainly was a while in the planning. Goes to show the difference between the EU and the Russians. And yet the Western PR machine tags Putin as the aggressor. Mind you, after the plandemic and killer jabs being good for us, we should be able to sort fact from fiction by now.

The Hawks in the US are ramping up the situation in Ukraine now trying to involve neighbouring countries to expand the conflict. Also having told Ukraine to go after targets in central Russia. The Russians have been holding back for the last few months. If the West keeps prodding the bear they will soon find out what they are up against.

Clearly the EU has now lost its mind, acting like children and become a vassal of the USA. American and UK special forces are already in Ukraine under their own flags. Next year is going to be very interesting indeed..

    • Ms von der leyen is nothing more than a us agent. Corrupt to the core. She seems to decide ” what is good” for government.
The Marshall plan after world war II ( US money to reconstruct europe) dictated the implementing of the EU. The USA still has many ( huge) ” peace” basis around all europe . Most of the elected politicians are elected with the aid of msm who decide who is worthy or not of beeing elected. Many nasty last minute tricks/ scandals to eliminate the ” unwanted” . That is politic in most european countries

  2. NATO, Germany the USA and UK manipulated, coerced and threw the Minsk agreements into the bin from 2014 to 2019.

Through that period it was Russia that held on for a peaceful solution that honoured the agreements signed by all those parties

And so it is clear the West does not honour its written Agreements ratified by the UN or indeed the laws within their own nations. Nor does they seek to protect its peoples

And so why should we respect their rule of law?

Certainly this only confirms why Russia and China should not ever believe what spews out of the wests mouth

    • Absolutely. Nothing but whited sepulchres devoid of substance. As their money is no longer worth the paper it’s printed on neither is their word.
