Ex-CIA officer found with $40m gold haul moves toward plea deal

David Rush news

A former senior CIA officer accused of obtaining tens of millions of dollars in government-supplied gold through an allegedly fabricated classified operation is negotiating a plea deal with US federal prosecutors, potentially avoiding a trial involving sensitive intelligence material.

David Rush, a former CIA official who held top-secret security clearance, was arrested in May following an internal investigation that reportedly uncovered false claims about his education and service in the US Navy. Authorities searching his Virginia residence subsequently discovered 303 one-kilogram gold bars, approximately $2 million in cash and 35 luxury watches.

Despite the extraordinary haul, Rush has so far been formally charged only with stealing public funds. Prosecutors allege he falsified employment records to collect approximately $77,000 in military-leave payments. His case has yet to be presented to a federal grand jury.

Court documents filed on Friday reveal that prosecutors and Rush have reached a “plea agreement in principle.” Both sides have asked for the deadline to secure an indictment to be moved from September 17 to October 8, allowing an additional three weeks to finalise the arrangement.

Assistant US Attorney Raizza Ty and defence lawyer Jessica Carmichael said further time was required to complete the necessary documentation, arguing that resolving the case before indictment would conserve both judicial and government resources.

The filing does not reveal which offence Rush would admit to or what sentence prosecutors might seek. However, both sides indicated that proceeding to indictment and trial could trigger extensive legal disputes over classified information. A negotiated resolution could therefore prevent sensitive details from being aired publicly.

According to court records, Rush began requesting substantial amounts of foreign currency and gold in November, purportedly to cover expenses associated with his intelligence work. He ultimately received gold valued at tens of millions of dollars.

Media reports have alleged that Rush invented a highly restricted “continuity of government” operation supposedly designed to ensure federal institutions could continue functioning following a nuclear attack or another national catastrophe.

The investigation has also drawn attention to US Deputy Secretary of Defense Stephen Feinberg, the private-equity billionaire reportedly responsible for overseeing the Pentagon’s roughly $33 billion military intelligence budget.

NBC News reported that Feinberg had recommended Rush for sensitive assignments and spoke positively about his performance to senior CIA officials. The network also reported that footage showed the two men together at a government-linked residence used by Rush.

Feinberg has not been accused of any wrongdoing. The Pentagon has disputed reports suggesting he helped secure positions for Rush and has described claims of a close professional relationship between the two men as inaccurate and exaggerated.

  1. Check out the contrite look on the bastard’s face: he knows that he’ll get away with this, and the Zionist / Masonic / Satanic PTB will never charge him! They’ll classify much of the Docket entries as redacted for National Security reasons!
This may have been part of an untraceable gold inventory scattered in different locations that is going to buy the U.S. out of the Iran War…
After all, the U.S. under Reagan bought the freedom of the U.S. Hostages in 1981 after 444 days in ‘captivity’..! That happened on Reagan’s first day in office!
