A former Brisbane GP has been charged with 148 alleged sexual offences following a major police investigation involving complaints from 15 former patients.
Queensland Police say 74-year-old Stellios “Stan” Theodoros sexually assaulted women aged from their late teens to 40s while working as a doctor at a medical centre in Tarragindi between the early 2000s and 2015.
He was charged on Tuesday with 94 counts of rape and 54 counts of sexual assault after detectives from the Upper Mount Gravatt Criminal Investigation Branch launched Operation Xray Cariyna last year.
Theodoros, who worked at Wellers Hill Medical Centre until retiring in 2021, is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on June 23.
Police say investigations remain ongoing and are urging anyone with further information to contact authorities or Crime Stoppers. One former patient who reported the alleged offending described the charges as “a long time coming” and said the development brought a sense of relief.
