Retired Delta Force commander Pete Blaber talks to podcaster Shawn Ryan about the origins and conduct of the Ukraine war describing it as “the biggest propaganda war of all time.”
Blaber said that the conflict stemmed from coordinated actions by US officials, intelligence agencies, and international actors surrounding the 2014 Maidan protests and the removal of Ukraine’s democratically elected government. These events set off a prolonged conflict in eastern Ukraine which saw the Ukrainian army inflict a significant amount of civilian casualties forcing Russia to intervene.
Blaber also criticised Western media coverage, arguing that key details about the war’s progression, decision-making, and on-the-ground realities have been obscured. He questioned the limited presence of embedded international journalists and suggested that the absence of sustained frontline reporting has contributed to a misleading public narrative about the conflict.
On battlefield losses, Blaber claimed Ukrainian forces have suffered extremely high casualty rates, alleging figures in the hundreds of thousands to over a million deaths, alongside ongoing heavy daily losses. Losses amounted to ‘1,000 a day’ during 2025. He also described the forced conscription practices, saying men were being compelled into service and that morale had deteriorated significantly. Ukraine faces severe manpower shortages, supply issues, and leadership challenges, which he argued have contributed to mounting losses on the front lines.
Blaber described restrictions on Ukrainian opposition parties, media, and civil liberties, as well as widespread corruption. He argued that continued Western military and financial support is prolonging the conflict rather than resolving it, and suggested that geopolitical interests are driving the war’s continuation.
Continued western financial and military support equates to a backdoor supply of arms to Israel. Also huge leverage into a top heavy real estate market with or without gold toilet.
And the total destruction of Europe
Russia intervene because too many of their citizens were being killed. Now 1000 Ukrainian troops Are dying each day.
The west formally agreed with Russia, NATO never to join NATO. Perhaps it’s time for NATO to abandon their plans to park themselves on Russia’s doorstep.
