Home invasion deaths reignite Victoria self-defence law debate

Two deadly home invasion cases in Victoria have reignited debate over whether homeowners should have stronger legal rights to defend themselves against violent intruders.

The issue has resurfaced following fresh details about the 2024 Donnybrook home invasion that left 20-year-old Joseph Romano dead after he and several masked offenders allegedly stormed a house occupied by a pregnant woman and her partner.

The woman was struck in the leg with an axe before her partner wrestled a firearm from one of the intruders and fired multiple shots, killing Romano. Prosecutors later dropped a murder charge against the homeowner.

The case has drawn comparisons to a 2015 Frankston incident where former US special forces soldier Russell Harrison killed a violent intruder while rescuing a neighbour during a brutal attack. Harrison was initially investigated for murder before prosecutors ruled he acted lawfully in self-defence.

Victorian Libertarian MP David Limbrick is now pushing for “Castle Law” reforms to strengthen protections for homeowners who use force against intruders. He argues many Victorians feel unsafe amid rising home invasion rates and uncertainty over whether the law adequately protects people defending their families.

“Unfortunately, nearly everyone I speak to in south east Melbourne seems to have experienced, or knows someone down the street, who has experienced crime,” the Victorian Libertarian Leader said.

“They are genuinely frightened, and unsure of their rights. It’s flat out wrong that, as the laws stand, someone could find themselves in trouble for protecting their family in their own home.”

  1. It’s a human, international and civil right to protect yourselves, your families and your property from meditated and causal harm.
THIS is why Jabby and her Communist ilktook away gun ‘privileges’…BUT-
The NZ Loyal Party intends to make firearms usage and ownership A RIGHT UNDER A RATIFIED NZ CONSTITUTION!, similar to the Second Amendment in the U.S..
The Nazional Party lied about making firearms ownership less bureaucratic but instead, made it worse for those renewing and purchasing ammo anf firearms., but Jabby led the way on this! Hence, the cooperation between the political parties is truly demonstrates a ‘Uni-Party’ system!
In fact, when this came up for a vote during Communist Labour’s reign relating to firearms and certain accessories being banned, David Seymour insuredthat he would be delayed by a reporter.
I wonder if he has seen the outlawed fake video of the Christchurch massacre that was a Mossad Op, as noted by the dreadlocked J3w in the rear view mirror!
The only political party to challenge this narrative was charged after the fact of sharing a link.
Since then, a forensic investigation in Thailand was carried out, since viewing or reading about the Mossad Op has been outlawed / banned in NZ. The only political party that went after the truth was the NZ L:oyal Party, and that political party is being persecuted for identifying problems and calling out the truth, with NZ Loyal Party Leader Kelvyn Alp facing prison for linking the video before it was declared illegal to do so!

  2. Same state that let a lady die because she wouldn’t take the jab. Government in Australia is as toxic, if not more, than here in NZ. Yes people should have the right to defend themselves in their own homes and lets be honest, practically speaking, if someone struck your wife or daughter with an axe you’d have no choice but to defend them. Another reason we need to weed out and get shot of these globalist party’s and politicians.

  3. Seems as though we already have the INTERNATIONAL LAWS that allows for self-protection, but past NZ Governments have ignored this as part of dis-arming nation-citizens so that there will be no armed resistance as to what’s coming!
    ‘U.N Right to Self Defence
    Chapter 7 Article 51’
    AND
    ‘U.N. Declaration of Human Rights
    Articles 12 & 17’.
The above are unenforceable plus null & void due to the Uni-Party Governments ignoring the same…
A vote for the NZ Loyal Party will guarantee Firearms reform, removing registries, and the red tape in applying for a licence, IF the requirement for a Firearms Licence is also thrown-out with a re-vamp of the codes & regulations!
What happens when a nation ignores these draconian operatives such a Jabby, Chippy and the Bald-Headed Minion?
    Well…here’s an example-

The producer of the movie was murdered in his home along with his wife & child, & the PTB claimed it was a ‘murder/suicide’ event.
Here’s some more related aspects of movie-making..

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU HAVE BEEN DISARMED! JUST ASK THE PALESTINIANS, LEBANESE AND SYRIANS!

  4. A policeman told me 60 years ago if anyone invades your home make sure you fire to shots first one to drop him 2 nd one to warn him.

  5. It is better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6, also after you have neutralized the intruder, do make sure they are dead, when the police arrive simply say you acted in self defence, then same ‘I will not answer any further questions until I have a lawyer present’
