‘Infantile in a pantsuit’: Politician launches blistering attack on EU boss von der Leyen

EU leader Ursula von der Leyen attacked for Ukraine-Russian war policies

A European Parliament member has delivered a scathing personal and political attack on European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, accusing her of corruption, censorship and weakening Europe’s global standing.

Addressing von der Leyen directly during a parliamentary debate, MEP Tomasz Froelich condemned the Commission’s handling of the Ukraine war, sanctions on Russia and relations with major world powers. He criticised what he described as the EU leadership’s outrage over U.S. president Donald Trump’s proposed peace initiatives, arguing that Brussels itself had failed to present a credible peace plan.

Froelich attacked EU financial support for Ukraine, claiming billions had been sent to a corrupt leadership while ordinary Ukrainians suffered. He also denounced the EU’s sanctions regime against Russia, saying multiple sanctions packages had harmed European economies more than Moscow.

The MEP characterised the EU’s foreign policy as incoherent, citing strained relations with the United States, China and Russia, and warned that Europe’s global influence was diminishing as a result.

In highly charged remarks, Froelich accused von der Leyen of being an “infantile in a pantsuit” by making Europe “weak” and steering it in the wrong geopolitical direction, concluding with a call for her to step down from office.
