According to the Iraqi military a booby-trapped drone hit the PM’s house in Baghdad’s Green Zone.

Shortly after the attack the PM released a statement confirming he had not been hurt:
‘I was and still am a redemption project for Iraq and the people of Iraq. The missiles of treachery will not discourage the believers, and a hair will not be shaken in the steadfastness and insistence of our heroic security forces to protect the people, achieve the right and put the law in place.’
The assasination attempt comes at a time of growing protest and tension in Baghdad over last month’s election results. Over a hundred people were injured on Friday (Baghdad time) when an angry mob tried to storm through the Green Zone border.
Hadi al-Amiri, the leader of the Al-Fateh Alliance said he would not accept the results, believing them to be ‘fabricated.’
