Irish teacher fined €225,000 in ongoing “transgender pronoun” dispute

Irish teacher Enoch Burke has been fined €225,000 by the Irish High Court after continuing to reject instructions to use transgender pronouns at Wilson’s Hospital School.

Burke previously won a Court of Appeal case in July, which ruled that the disciplinary panel reviewing his dismissal was improperly constituted. The appeal court said the principal’s “overarching complaint” against Burke was his refusal to address a student by a new name and “pronoun”, and that this issue must be assessed by disciplinary authorities. Despite this, the High Court has continued to uphold his suspension without addressing the legitimacy of the original instruction.

At Friday’s hearing, Judge David Nolan refused to consider Burke’s affidavit and submissions, warning members of the Burke family about contempt of court. He accused Burke of having “a perverted sense of justice,” though stated he did not wish to send him back to prison.

Burke and his supporters argue that his constitutional rights have been denied throughout the case and accuse the Church of Ireland leadership of failing to defend the Christian ethos of the school, which they say teaches that “God made them male and female.” They describe church leaders as complicit through their silence, and claim Burke has been made a scapegoat for standing against transgender ideology.

Burke has already spent more than 500 days in prison, lost his salary, and faces continuing legal sanctions as the case remains unresolved.

  1. So they can’t justify jailing him further, so now its time to try and ruin him financially. Ireland is every inch as globalist and human rights hating, as the UK.Another authoritarian rat hole to stay well away from.

    • Not that I know many, but Irelanders would NOT condone such egregious misuse of tje justice system.
It’s a long way from a political vote to having sitting marauding judges destroy the people.
