Former ABC News correspondent Terry Moran has accused the legacy mainstream media network of heavily altering his 2021 report examining the COVID-19 lab-leak theory after the script was shared with Covid enforcer Anthony Fauci before broadcast.
Speaking on The Fifth Column podcast, Moran said his original Nightline investigation presented competing explanations for the pandemic’s origins without reaching a firm conclusion, but was substantially rewritten during a final review involving lawyers, standards staff and, he was told, Fauci.
Moran said the resulting segment was loaded with caveats and became “incomprehensible”, leaving him “absolutely livid” and feeling it was no longer his work. He stressed that he did not personally know whether Fauci received the script and was relying on what he had been told at the time.
ABC News and Fauci did not respond to requests for comment cited in the original report. The allegation raises fresh questions about editorial independence at legacy media outlets and outside influence over Covid media coverage.
It was obvious to us that it was a lab leak because they tried too hard to say it wasn’t. The more they lied the more they had to keep lying to the point of ridiculousness such as children can’t catch the virus because it hovers at head height, you can catch it from handling money, you can catch it at the beach or in a swimming pool, everyone was going to die unless you wore a mask. If they’d said right at the beginning – we’ve made a virus, it’s got out, sorry but take the vaccine anyway . . they might have had more ‘success’ .
