Democrat Zohran Mamdani has been elected mayor of New York City, becoming the city’s first Muslim leader.
With over 90 percent of votes counted, Mamdani led former Governor Andrew Cuomo 50 to 41 percent, while Republican Curtis Sliwa trailed at 7 percent. Voter turnout exceeded two million – the highest for a New York mayoral race since 1969.
The 34-year-old assembly member rose to prominence with a populist campaign centered on housing affordability, wealth taxation, and social justice, inspiring young and progressive voters while alarming moderates and conservatives who branded him a “communist.” His victory followed a heated campaign that drew national attention, including a last-minute endorsement of Cuomo by former President Donald Trump, who threatened to limit federal funding should Mamdani win.
In his victory speech, Mamdani declared, “To get to any of us, you’ll have to get through all of us. When we enter City Hall in 58 days, expectations will be high – and we will meet them.”
Cuomo conceded late Tuesday, promising to hold the new administration accountable, warning that nearly half of New Yorkers had rejected “a government agenda that makes promises we know cannot be met.”
This is going to be hilarious to see a city turn to s***.
This city is screwed. Whole world is screwed really thanks to globalist interferance for decades.
