Masked Israeli settlers attacked an NBC News team and a Palestinian woman near the West Bank village of Jalud on Saturday, injuring several people and damaging journalists’ equipment and a vehicle, according to the US legacy media broadcaster.
Correspondent Matt Bradley said the crew had been accompanying 51-year-old Aida Ahmed Abdullah to a home her family said it had abandoned because of previous settler violence when a vehicle bearing Israeli licence plates approached and at least three masked men emerged armed with sticks and rocks.
“They jumped out, beat us, then jumped back in the car,” Bradley said, adding that he was struck twice on the arm and later received medical treatment, while Abdullah was also taken for treatment.
The Foreign Press Association condemned the assault as part of what it called a “recurring pattern of violence against members of the press and Palestinian civilians” and called for Israeli authorities to investigate, with no arrests reported by Sunday.
The incident comes amid a sharp rise in West Bank settler violence, with the UN reporting in June that more than 1,000 attacks resulting in casualties or property damage had been recorded during 2026, averaging six incidents a day and representing the highest rate since its records began.
The violence has coincided with continued Israeli settlement expansion, including plans for thousands of additional homes, which have drawn international criticism over their potential impact on the viability of a future Palestinian state.
