Multiple dead after private jet crashes into Florida mobile home park

A private jet carrying an estimated nine people crashed into a mobile home park in Greenacres, Florida, on Monday, triggering a massive explosion and leaving multiple people dead.

The Learjet 60, travelling from Austin, Texas, towards the Bahamas, reportedly descended rapidly before striking trees and power lines and smashing into a residential property shortly before 1pm local time.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue declared a mass casualty incident as emergency crews battled flames and secured the devastated site, where burning wreckage and a large impact crater were visible.

Authorities have confirmed multiple fatalities but have yet to establish the exact death toll or whether residents on the ground were among the victims. The cause of the crash remains unknown, with federal aviation investigators expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the disaster.
