New York Supreme Court reinstates fired unvaccinated workers, orders backpay

The New York State Supreme Court has ruled that all New York City employees dismissed for refusing to get ‘vaccinated’ against COVID-19 must be reinstated with backpay.

In the ruling, the court determined that ‘vaccination’ does not prevent the transmission or contraction of COVID-19.

Earlier this year, New York City Mayor Eric Adams had refused to rehire employees terminated for their vaccination status.

The city had fired approximately 1,700 workers, many of whom were police officers and firefighters, under a mandate issued by former Mayor Bill de Blasio.

Union leaders representing firefighters, including FDNY-Uniformed Firefighters Association President Andrew Ansbro and FDNY-Uniformed Fire Officers Association President Lt. James McCarthy, criticised the administration for allowing vaccine exemptions for athletes and performers while maintaining the mandate for city workers.
