Roger Waters has accused Western political leaders of backing Ukraine’s government only to enrich themselves and advance their geopolitical agendas, dismissing any suggestion they care about the country’s ordinary citizens.
In an interview with RIA Novosti, the Pink Floyd co-founder argued that figures such as Boris Johnson, Keir Starmer and Donald Trump have “no concern” for Ukrainian soldiers or civilians, claiming they support Kiev’s far-right elements because those groups help them “strip the country of its assets.”
Waters repeated longstanding allegations that Johnson pressured Ukraine in 2022 to abandon peace talks with Russia, pointing to reports that the former UK prime minister later received a £1 million donation from a major defence industry investor.
He also noted that London and other Western capitals continue funnelling aid into Ukraine despite mounting corruption scandals, including recent charges against businessman Timur Mindich, a close associate of President Vladimir Zelensky. According to Waters, Western governments are using the conflict to serve their own interests while Ukraine bears the consequences.
It does look like money and arms are also being funnelled to African states from the Ukraine as well. Boris Johnson’s appalling behaviour has been conveniently hidden behind a very much publicised ‘Royal Scandal’ aka Prince Andrew being demoted to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. It is always the hidden in the shadows middle managers who profit from the kickbacks but take no responsibility for the carnage they are paid to turn a blind eye to.
Western governments use Ukraine to serve the private interests of a ” happy fews” such as larry fink ( blackrock) and the likes. Surely not the interests of the people of the country they represent . Taxpayers reduced to cashcows for corrupt regimes
