Putin blames Western infighting and internal power struggles for stalling Ukraine peace talks

Russian President Vladimir Putin says internal disagreements within the West, rather than Moscow, are the primary reason the Ukraine peace process has stalled.

Speaking at a press conference in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on Thursday, Putin said competing views in the U.S. and across the “collective West” are preventing progress toward a settlement.

Putin referenced recent contacts between Washington and Moscow – including his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Alaska – saying the exchanges had clarified each side’s positions and potential steps toward ending the conflict. “It’s not about us,” he said. “It’s about the struggle of different opinions in the collective West and in the United States itself.”

The comments follow a peace proposal drafted by the Trump administration, which reportedly calls for Ukraine to drop its NATO ambitions, relinquish territorial claims, and cap its military at 600,000 troops. The leaked plan prompted Western European backers of Kiev to prepare a counter-proposal that softened or removed several of those conditions and introduced NATO-style security guarantees for Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has said he wants to meet Trump to discuss the proposal, and suggested European leaders join the talks. Trump has said he will meet Zelensky when the plan is “in its final stages.”

Moscow has cautiously welcomed the US effort, arguing it could provide a workable foundation for a final settlement. However, the Kremlin has accused European governments of trying to undercut the process for their own political purposes.

Putin stressed that no formal US draft exists yet, only a list of issues proposed by Washington. He said the US has considered Russia’s views in some areas, but “fundamental” points still require extensive negotiation. A US delegation is expected in Moscow next week for further talks on the evolving peace framework.

  1. Everytime Russia is ready to come to the table the West manage to derail the peace talks process for there own benefit. I fear that the only way this war is going to end is when the last Ukrainian soldier is dead, and there are not many left now, then Russia shows Ukraine their new flag.

    • It’s called the Boris Johnson effect. Skin in the arms trading game and a fake posh accent, he seems to have everybody fooled.

  2. Why is it called a “Coalition of the Willing”?
Because the EU UK can never agree on anything
They continue to do what they do best
And what they have been doing for thousands of years
Fighting and squabbling among each other
    Complete retards
