Putin says revised U.S. peace plan could form basis for Ukraine settlement

Russian President Vladimir Putin says Washington’s latest proposal to end the conflict in Ukraine closely resembles an earlier plan developed after his meeting with former US President Donald Trump in Alaska — and could potentially serve as the foundation for a final peace agreement.

Speaking at a Security Council session, Putin said the US had previously sought “certain compromises” from Moscow, which Russia accepted, but progress stalled when Kiev rejected Trump’s original proposal.

Putin confirmed Moscow has now received the updated plan from the US but has yet to study it in depth. He said it “could also form the basis of a final peace settlement,” depending on further discussions.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has publicly acknowledged the proposal’s arrival, warning Ukrainians that they may soon face a difficult choice between accepting the deal or losing crucial US military and intelligence support — pressure reportedly communicated by the White House, according to Reuters.

The peace push comes as Zelensky’s political standing at home is weakened by a major corruption scandal and as Ukrainian forces face mounting challenges on the battlefield. Russian troops have made steady gains in the Donetsk People’s Republic in recent months, while Ukraine continues to struggle with severe manpower shortages and a series of frontline setbacks.

  1. Russia would be stupid to agree to any ‘deal’ with the US involved as past experience shows they cant be trusted; Anyway the have the upper hand on all matters, and the last thing Ukraine needs is the USA bleeding them dry from here on in. Just ask Syria or any where else theyve taken their warped version of democracy spearheaded by Haliburton or Blackrock
