Questions raised over Australian weather station temperature measurements

Concerns have been raised about deliberate temperature measurement bias following changes to weather monitoring equipment used by the Australian Bureau of Meteorology (BOM).

Critics claim the bureau significantly reduced the size of Stevenson Screens — protective enclosures used to house temperature instruments — lowering their internal volume by around 74 percent.

According to commentary citing research supported by the Australian Foundation for Economic Education (AFEE), smaller screens may record higher temperatures, with claims suggesting increases of around 0.54°C annually and up to 1.7°C during hot summer conditions. The BOM has rejected these assertions, claiming the design change does not materially affect temperature records.

Additional criticism focuses on the transition process, with claims that older, larger screens were removed immediately when smaller versions were installed, rather than running both systems in parallel to compare results and identify potential measurement differences.

Observers have pointed to historical comparisons, including imagery of larger Stevenson Screens used at sites such as Sydney Observatory in the mid-20th century versus modern smaller designs used in locations like Wagga Wagga. Some research referenced by critics suggests smaller screens may be more prone to overheating during clear, low-wind conditions, particularly in warmer months, potentially influencing maximum temperature readings and long-term climate datasets. The BOM continues to stand by its methodology and data integrity.

  1. Lets exaggerate climate change so we can push our dystopian agenda. Of course, we are too stupid to consider that people might become concerned and leave, based on our alarmist rhetoric or skilled immigrants might decide not to move to Australia, because on paper it looks too risky.

  2. You can trust the establishment and their buddies the funded corporate university “experts” to be honest and kosher, and you can rely on them to not doctor and manipulate their figures and facts with big-corporate globalist agenda during their private locked-door meetings. So please stay indoors,
and only drive EV’s and please all revert to synthetic insect diets to save our cities from oceanic submergence.
