A record 125 migrants crossed the English Channel in a single “mega dinghy” on Saturday, the largest-ever number of illegal arrivals on one boat.

In total, nearly 1,300 migrants made the journey over the weekend as smugglers exploited calm weather, with Border Force intercepting the massive raft along with several other overloaded vessels.

Speaking to GB News, maritime sources warned the increasing use of larger rafts could be a “game changer” in smuggling operations, despite the dangers highlighted by four recent migrant deaths.

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood condemned the crossings as “utterly unacceptable” and vowed to step up efforts to secure the UK border and dismantle smuggling networks.

  1. Surely it can’t be that difficult to find out who purchased a rubber boat that big. Begs the question why the authorities have done nothing to shut down the smuggling gangs all these years.

    • because it’s all a big merry-go-round for ‘the authorities’ leeches who all are controlled via the core of the onion and thejr subsequent layers

  2. Digital ID should keep them in check
