Trump and EU seal trade deal with tariff cuts and major U.S. investments

President Donald Trump and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced a new U.S.-EU trade deal on Sunday, featuring a uniform 15% tariff on automobiles and expanded market access for U.S. goods, including agriculture.

As part of the agreement, Europe will buy $150 billion in U.S. energy and invest an additional $600 billion in the American economy.

The deal, reached after intense negotiations, aims to “rebalance” the trade relationship, which both leaders acknowledged had previously favoured the EU.
