U.S. President Donald Trump has endorsed a congressional stock trading ban, claiming it would prevent lawmakers like Nancy Pelosi from profiting off insider knowledge.
At a White House briefing, press secretary Karoline Leavitt slammed Pelosi’s wealth accumulation and alleged her stock portfolio grew by 70% in 2024 despite her congressional salary.
Pelosi, responding to Trump’s accusations, denied any wrongdoing and reiterated her support for banning congressional stock trading to restore public trust.
Her spokesman maintained she does not own stocks or participate in transactions.
The debate follows the Senate’s advancement of the bipartisan “Honest Act,” also known as the PELOSI Act, which would ban lawmakers and their spouses from trading stocks while in office.
