Trump witnesses expanded Cambodia–Thailand peace deal at ASEAN Summit

U.S. President Donald Trump witnessed the signing of an expanded ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand at the ASEAN summit, months after he brokered the initial peace deal to end their deadly border conflict.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul signed the agreement, which mandates Thailand to release 18 Cambodian soldiers and both nations to withdraw heavy weapons from the frontier.

The conflict had claimed dozens of lives and displaced hundreds of thousands before Trump’s tariff threats pushed both sides toward peace.
