Two dead after gunman opens fire at youth ice hockey game in U.S. (Video)

Two people have been killed after a gunman opened fire during a youth boys’ hockey game in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, sending players, families and spectators scrambling for safety inside the arena.

The shooting happened Monday at the Dennis M. Lynch Arena during a game between Coventry/Johnston and the Blackstone Valley Co-op team.

Police say the attack appears to have been targeted and linked to an ongoing family dispute. Authorities believe the suspect died at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound shortly after the shooting. Emergency responders rushed multiple victims to hospital, with three people reported to be in critical condition following the incident.

Witness footage and livestream video from the game reportedly captured the moment chaos erupted, with players and spectators ducking for cover and fleeing the venue as shots rang out. Investigators say at least 14 rounds were fired. Police remain at the scene gathering evidence as they work to piece together the full sequence of events.
