U.S. and China to resume trade talks in London

US - China news

The US and China are set to resume high-level trade talks in London on Monday (UK Time), aiming to resolve ongoing tensions following a temporary truce struck in May.

The meetings, involving US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and China’s Vice Premier He Lifeng, come after a recent phone call between Presidents Trump and Xi Jinping described as “very positive.”

Both sides have since accused each other of breaching the deal, particularly over tariffs and rare earth exports.

Despite earlier promises to ease trade barriers, data shows China’s exports underperformed in May, while rare earth trade remains a sticking point.
