The US State Department has revoked more than 6,000 international student visas, citing violations of US law, overstays, and national security concerns.
Officials said the majority of cases involved crimes such as assault, burglary, and DUI, while 200–300 visas were cancelled under terrorism-related provisions of immigration law.
The move is part of the Trump administration’s broader immigration crackdown, which has included enhanced social media vetting of applicants and scrutiny of students accused of supporting Palestine-related protests deemed antisemitic.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio told lawmakers that “thousands” of revocations had already taken place this year, with more expected. Democrats criticised the policy as “undermining due process”, while more than 1.1 million international students remain enrolled in US institutions.

Many found that despite their high pre-admittance scores to get into Uni or ‘College’, they were BLACKLISTED by the government due to their political beliefs, or political involvement, or their Parent’s politics (Just ask Keith Locke about that…!).
