UK MPs have narrowly approved the Terminally Ill Adults Bill by 314 votes to 291, paving the way for legal assisted dying in England and Wales.
The bill, which allows terminally ill adults the right to end their own lives, now moves to the House of Lords for further scrutiny.
The vote passed with a reduced majority compared to its initial reading in November.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer supported the bill, while key Conservatives opposed it. Labour MP Kim Leadbeater, who introduced the bill, described the outcome as a “deeply meaningful” step for suffering individuals and their families.
