UK tribunal upholds ban for former Barclays Bank CEO over Epstein ties

Former Barclays CEO Jes Staley lost his appeal against a lifetime ban from working in London’s financial sector due to his close relationship with convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.

During the tribunal Staley admitted to having sex with an Epstein employee and approving a misleading 2019 letter downplaying their connection.

The court cited “overwhelming” evidence of a close relationship, including suggestive 2010 emails referencing “Snow White” and “Beauty and the Beast” as code names for sexual activity.

Though his fine was reduced, the ban remains, with the judge referencing visits to Epstein’s properties and Epstein’s alleged support for Staley’s Barclays appointment.
