A video circulating on social media shows a man later identified as alleged assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks positioning himself with a firearm to take a shot, while law enforcement did nothing.
The footage, which has garnered millions of views, depicts the man lying on the roof of a building while members of a crowd frantically point him out to law enforcement officers below.
The video, lasting nearly a minute, captures the intense moment when bystanders notice the suspect and begin shouting to alert the police. “There he is! On the roof!” can be heard repeatedly as the camera zooms in on the figure moving cautiously across the rooftop. Despite the loud and clear warnings from the crowd, there was no response from the Secret Service or local law enforcement.
Witnesses expressed their disbelief and frustration in the video, knowing full well the man posed a clear and present danger to the former president’s life. The video shows multiple people gesturing and yelling towards the officers, yet there seems to be no immediate reaction or action taken to apprehend the individual on the roof.
