Household energy bill debt, which has already doubled in the space of a month, is expected to rise further during the winter.
Next week, September 1st will mark the first day of spring in New Zealand, and thenceforth daily temperatures will rise as the country moves towards summer.
UK residents however, have a bleak winter to look forward to, made worse by the rising cost of heating. DTNZ reported on August 22 that Britain was facing a ‘humanitarian crisis’ during the winter due to cold homes.
In response there is a growing number of Brits who a simply refusing to pay their energy bills.
A recent street protest in Glasgow Scotland provided one example of the unrest, as Scots put their ‘Bills in the Bin’.
