In a New Zealand first, Graham Philip has been sentenced to 3 years and 1 month prison for the crime of sabotage.
The Crown claimed Philip orchestrated attacks on Transpower infrastructure last November which resulted in damage. Philip was sentenced this morning at the High Court in Hamilton. He has been in custody for nearly a year, having been denied bail previously.
His lawyer Bill Nabney told the court the offending stemmed from his ‘deep frustration that the concerns of unvaccinated New Zealanders weren’t taken seriously,’ by the government or media.
Under section 79 of the Crimes Act 1961 sabotage can include actions that ‘damages or destroys any property which is necessary to keep intact for the safety or health of the public.’
Many of the details surrounding the case remain suppressed.
Counterspin Media have been following Philip’s case closely. In a notice posted on their Telegram channel today the independent media platform said they will provide an update on the sentencing shortly.

Well how can that be determined? To make an assessment that he’s a “nutter” we need both sides of the argument. Facts from both sides. We do not.

It’s determined by his actions, social media posts, etc before he committed the crime, that he pleaded guilty to. He went far down the rabbit hole and maybe time in jail will help him get back up…..but I doubt it will, I think he will be entrenched down there forever.
