US embassies in Israel, Qatar and Jordan have issued security warnings as US forces launched strikes against Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz.

US citizens were urged to prepare for possible airspace closures, flight cancellations and other travel disruption. US President Donald Trump said the strikes were in response to an alleged Iranian attempt to deploy sea mines and a missile attack on a US base in Jordan.

Warning sirens also sounded in Bahrain after Iran threatened Bahrain and Kuwait. Iranian officials later warned that it would “no longer exercise restraint” towards the two Gulf states.
