Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) has confirmed its response to a fire incident in central Wellington during the late hours of Saturday night.
The blaze erupted in an abandoned three-storey building located on Tasman Street in the suburb of Mount Cook.
Nine emergency vehicles, including five fire appliances, two ladder trucks, and a breathing apparatus unit were mobilised to combat the fire, which was reported just before midnight.
The fire was eventually put out at 2am. Despite the intensity of the blaze the structure remains intact.
A fire investigator will be on the scene this morning to conduct an assessment and determine the cause of the fire, said FENZ.
