In a social media tribute Tauvalea Law, mother of baby Mustafa Maheir Mukzameel Ali, mourned her ‘happy and adorable boy’ following his tragic death.
Mustafa was taken to Te Kūiti Hospital unconscious and couldn’t be revived, leading to a homicide investigation. Family and friends gathered at Te Kūiti Cemetery today to lay Mustafa to rest, surrounding his tiny grave with flowers, a cross, and soft toys.
In her emotional Facebook post, Law said she was grateful for the support and shared cherished memories of Mustafa’s joy and love for the cartoon Cocomelon, which always made him smile and dance.
State media reported the funeral saw loved ones wearing T-shirts with Mustafa’s photo, and a video compilation of his happy moments played on a big screen. Mustafa’s father, Mukzameel Ali, admitted to contributing to his son’s injuries while attempting CPR during a choking incident, claiming it was unintentional. Police have not made an arrest but noted inconsistencies in the parents’ statements.
