Months before Canterbury District Commander John Price retired allegations of bullying and discrimination emerged with staff describing him as a “Jekyll and Hyde” figure who fostered a “culture of fear.”
According to an article today in legacy media, reports from multiple complainants via the ‘Kia Tu’ mechanism highlighted issues such as intimidation, exclusion, and passive-aggressive behavior, particularly towards female employees. Despite the serious allegations police have refused to comment, citing privacy reasons, and Price has not responded to requests for comment from NZME.
The Kia Tu report, which was intended to inform Deputy Commissioner Tania Kura, outlined recurring themes of covert bullying, exclusion, and the use of power to intimidate.
Complainants feared retaliation and further exclusionary behaviour, describing chronic issues that spanned years. Although the report suggested informing Price and addressing the concerns, it did not lead to a formal investigation. Price, who had a long career with the police and was recognised for his service, announced his retirement in February 2023 without addressing the allegations publicly.
Yep…typical of the Provincial / Colonial mindset of the region, where the Old Boy Networks ran everything and everyone using the same tactics.
I wonder which Masonic Lodge he belongs to?
Or-
Maybe he’ll sell-up and move to Nelson like many former Canty Cops do, hoping to not be recognised in public.
Remember; NEVER engage / contract with the Cops; they’ll turn your statements in on you, and they are specifically trained to do just that! When that fails them, they become threatening. Don’t be intimidated.
The rule to follow? S.T.F.U. – Shut The F@#k Up! … S.T.F.U.- SHUT THE F@#K UP! Don’t incriminate yourself
NEVER talk to the Cops unless your lawyer is on the phone or in person!
Most convictions come through self-confession
