A district court judge and her reality TV star partner have issued apologies following a heated confrontation at a New Zealand First Christmas function last month.
According to a report in The Post, Judge Ema Aitken and intensive care specialist David Galler disrupted the event at Auckland’s exclusive Northern Club by verbally confronting Winston Peters and his party members. Witnesses reported Aitken shouted accusations of dishonesty during Peters’ speech, while Galler allegedly blocked Peters’ exit and criticised the coalition government. Galler also made remarks interpreted as racist towards a staff member of Indian heritage, which he later denied, though he acknowledged his behaviour as “inappropriate and wrong.”
Chief Judge Heemi Taumaunu issued an apology on behalf of the court, calling the events “regrettable and unacceptable.”
The Northern Club’s incident report revealed further tension, including Galler verbally challenging NZ First’s Casey Costello over her repeal of smokefree legislation.
Prominent barrister Michael Reed KC was also implicated for refusing to stop taking photographs of NZ First guests despite club rules.
Attorney-General Judith Collins condemned the behaviour as “completely unacceptable,” saying that such actions have no place in public or professional settings.

The 60 mins video doesn’t put a name in text on the screen.. so I listened carefully… they mentioned “David Galler”… so I paused the vid and ran a quick search.. and this popped up. So I can confirm that this “David Galler” chump wasn’t just having a one-off incident at the Northern Club. He’s a documented F-WIT, for more than a decade. F that guy, and the horse he rode in on.
