Pro-EU incumbent Maia Sandu has secured a second term as Moldova’s president, winning Sunday’s runoff with 55.33% of the vote against former prosecutor general Aleksandr Stoianoglo, who garnered 44.67%, according to Moldova’s Central Election Committee.
Voter turnout reached 54.31%, surpassing the 20% threshold required for the results to be valid. Despite her decisive lead, the election saw 225 reported violations, including allegations of ballot tampering and voter bribery. Sandu, who overtook Stoianoglo after an initially close race, promised to unify Moldova in her victory speech.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen congratulated Sandu, committing to work towards a European future for Moldova. However, Stoianoglo’s Socialist Party supporters have refused to accept the outcome, labeling Sandu’s victory “illegitimate.”
The election followed recent tensions, with Moldovan authorities accusing Russia of interference, a claim the Kremlin denies. The Central Election Committee will submit final results to Moldova’s constitutional court within five days.

Funny how election rigging is apparently a real phenomenon, aggressively prosecuted, but only when it’s a pro-EU globalist ranting and raving about “Muh Russia”.
When it’s anyone else claiming fraud it’s just because they’re an unhinged conspiracy theorist who should be forbidden from all social media and imprisoned to “save democracy”.
