‘Bird Flu’ discovered on Otago egg farm – State Media

New Zealand has recorded its first instance of avian influenza, commonly known as bird flu, on a commercial egg farm in rural Otago.

The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) has identified the H7N6 strain of the virus on the property, which is believed to have spread after free-range hens came into contact with a low-pathogenic virus carried by wild waterfowl.

Stuart Anderson, deputy director-general of Biosecurity New Zealand, told state media the situation was serious despite confirming that this is not the highly concerning H5N1 strain currently affecting wildlife worldwide.

To contain the outbreak, MPI has initiated a cull of the birds on the isolated farm. Additionally, a 10-kilometre buffer zone has been established, enforcing strict restrictions on the movement of animals, equipment, and feed in the area. Authorities are working rapidly to mitigate any further risks to both agriculture and wildlife.

  1. What a load of BS. Bird flu my ar$e we’re not falling for it this time.

Just try it on with us and WATCH OUT. We are over the lies and BS and we CERTAINLY wont be tuning into One Lies or TV3. Your propaganda is FAILING.

    • So what becomes of the eggs and the chicken meat already in the processing line?
Is it the saliva, the poops and/ or the blood that provides the mechanism for the positive tests?
Since when does any wild waterfowl bird have a flight limit to 10 km?
How many H7N6 vaccines are on order ?
      …………………….
      Well prepared? ….Definitely not convinced!

  2. Probably the same “farm” that mysteriously “got” “mycoplasma Bovis”. Who is the patsy this time? Check their bank account.

Yeah that’s right folks we are AWAKE ago the tricks now.

    • But what can we do?
      Like with covid
The Govt just ploughs on at full steam ahead regardless of overwhelming incriminating evidence regarding vaccine injuries and death
Have the vaccines been taken off the shelf?
      No

      • We come out swinging and tell the bureaucrats we aren’t buying their scaremongering lies anymore. If they think they are going to ban chicken or get people to register chickens then THINK AGAIN. Email them if you want. They need to know that we will keep the pressure on until they listen. Our politicians are accessible so they don’t want to be run out of town like Jacinda.

If they want to cull anything then cull cats. They are probably a good reason why a lot of diseases spread. Toxoplasmosis being one.

      • We may just see a glut of cheap (marinated) chicken bits hit the local market, before the inevitable price hikes and shortages.

    • Yes and they are hell bent on wiping food supply chains across the world , so they are the only people with access to food and then they plan to introduce the digital/vaccine pass

  3. I gotta say I had a look at the herald facebook comments for a bit of entertainment, not surprisingly the herald has limited people who can comment but the people who could aren’t buying this fear mongering scam either!!!! 🤣🤣🤣 Gold!

  4. Egg shortage … Food supply disruption …. more economic stresses….. If we the people don’t play the destroy the people game, there is no COVID, no bird flu, no global warming

  5. Ha ha, no chickens so I will have to eat Kiwis now as off the endangered species list and somewhat immune to bird flu, or if not I will be helping in controlling the spread?? Action=Reaction.but in all seriorouness I do feel another great waste at this culling.

  6. Are they testing with the fake pcr tests, MPI are a criminal organisation just like the medical council.
The did the same bullshit in Melbourne and the vaccine all ready to go, they really think we are stupid.
