Seven-time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton is set to legally incorporate his mother’s maiden name, Larbalestier, alongside Hamilton as he prepares to join Ferrari for the 2025 season.
The 39-year-old driver, known for his pride in his family heritage, explained that he wants to honour his mother, Carmen, by preserving her surname.
The move comes after Hamilton’s victory at the 2024 British Grand Prix ended a 945-day winless streak, making him the oldest F1 race winner since 1994.
As he enters his 19th season Hamilton will join a select group of drivers competing in their 40s, with hopes of securing a world championship post-40—a feat last accomplished by Jack Brabham in 1966.
