Police are investigating multiple complaints of alleged extortion at Pak’n Save Manukau, where customers were reportedly threatened with hefty fines by security personnel.

One complainant, speaking anonymously, described being falsely accused of theft and coerced into paying a $395 fine before proving her innocence through CCTV footage.

The supermarket’s parent company, Foodstuffs, has apologised for the incident and is conducting its own review.

Police are urging other affected customers to come forward as inquiries continue.
